Spine Problems: What Can be Done?

Posted by Daniel Lawrence on February, 2018

Millions of Americans suffer with back pain on a yearly basis. It is said to be the leading cause of disability in American’s under 45 years of age. If you are suffering from spine pain in Jacksonville, it is possible that Riverside Pain Physicians can help to manage your pain. There are a few spine related problems listed below.

Slipped or Herniated Discs
If you have slipped or herniated discs, it means that the soft tissue in these discs that are flanked by your joints have slipped out. Since the nerves are pressed in your hip and lower back, this is where you will feel the most pain. Slipped or herniated discs are usually caused by wear on the back over a long period of time.

Bulging Discs
These are called bulging discs because (not surprisingly) they bulge, but still not as much as a slipped disc. With a bulging disc you usually don’t have severe symptoms, unless the bulge presses against a nerve. The problem does need to be taken care of however, as soon as possible regardless of symptoms.

Spinal Stenosis
If your legs and shoulders are feeling numb, then you might have spinal stenosis. This is a condition that normally affects people who are older than 60, and means that your spinal cord is narrowing. This adds pressure on the spine and nerves in your back causing back pain.

Injuries and Accidents
Of course, there are the simple injuries and accidents that no one can predict that lead to spinal related problems as well. These can seem minor at first, but may lead to serious issues down the line.

These are just a few of the spine related problems out there. For more information on spine pain in Jacksonville and what can be done to help, contact the professionals at Riverside Pain Physicians for help and answers to any of the questions about their services you might have.
