How To Shop At A Wine Shop

Posted by Daniel Lawrence on August, 2017

At a wine shop, you will be able to find wine and liquor. Choosing the appropriate wine or liquor for your needs depends on the tastes of those who will be drinking them. If you are looking for a great liquor to make cocktails, vodka is the most common staple. If you are looking for something to drink in a mixed drink or by itself, whiskey is usually preferred. Finally, there are many different kinds of wine.

Clear Liquors

Clear liquors are those that have not been aged in wood that will change their color. In the case of white whiskey, it could mean that it has been aged in a white oak barrel, or that it’s not been aged at all. In the United States, un-aged whiskey cannot legally be called whiskey; therefore, you will likely see it billed as corn liquor. Clear liquors are available at just about every wine shop. They are great because they tend to have much milder flavors. They can be mixed with other ingredients to create many classic cocktails.

If you are looking for something with more flavor, a brown liquor might be more appropriate.

Brown Liquors

Brown liquors are those that have been aged in wooden barrels or with wood additions to their containers. Wood imparts flavor and color to the otherwise clear liquor to make it brown. It will also have a stronger flavor. Brown liquors are great on their own, or can be added to different drinks. There are not as many cocktails that make use of brown liquor, but many classic cocktails make use of bourbon. The “old-fashioned” is one of the most iconic drink.
