A bolt is a small, threaded fastening device that is sold in two parts: the male thread and the female fastener. Minnesota people tend to confuse bolts with screws. Step 1: Hold the Nut and Bolt Together

Hold the two together, and start turning the nut against the bolt. If the nut begins to rotate, you are doing it correctly. The nut will tighten when turned towards the right (clockwise direction). In case this doesn’t work and you feel a resistance, change directions.
Step 2: Use a Spanner
Spanners or wrenches can be used for fastening large sized nuts. Because of their nature, the nuts must be fastened very tightly in order to keep the assembly in place. You may not be able to unscrew the nut from the bolt using only your fingers. You can use a wrench in order to unscrew or fasten the nut over the bolt tightly. Place the spanner and adjust the width accordingly. Then, begin to rotate the wrench in an anti-clockwise direction to unscrew the nut. If you want to tighten it, move in a clockwise direction.
