Porcelain veneers are the fastest way to a beautiful smile. Porcelain veneers are ideal for people who have teeth that are chipped, cracked, stained or have gaps between them. Getting porcelain veneers in Chicago is irreversible; you must think long and hard about whether veneers are right for you.

What are porcelain veneers?

Veneers are thin sections of porcelain that are made to fit on the front of a tooth that has been previously prepared by the dentist. Veneers re-create the look of natural, healthy teeth while at the same time strengthen the teeth. Porcelain veneers are bonded to the natural enamel surface during in-office dental procedures.

Veneers are chosen as a cosmetic solution by those patients that have teeth that are discolored, chipped, or cracked. They are also used to close gaps as well as correct small issues of misalignment.

Placing veneers:

Veneers can be made from a composite resin material as well as porcelain. Porcelain veneers are the better option as they can last upwards of 20 years while the life expectancy of resin veneers is at best, half of that.

Normally, it takes two dental appointments to complete the procedure. Once the teeth have been professionally cleaned, the dentist determines the correct shade. A small amount of enamel is ground off the front surface of the target teeth; this provides room for the veneers.

The dentist will make an impression that is used by the dental lab to produce the veneers. During the week or ten days, that it takes to produce the veneers the dentist will place temporary veneers.

Once the dentist has received porcelain veneers in Chicago, the temporary’s are removed, the teeth are cleaned, and the veneer is etched. Dental cement is placed on both surfaces and the veneers are placed and properly aligned. A light is used to cure the cement and after polishing, the procedure is complete.

Proper daily brushing using a non-abrasive toothpaste and flossing is all that is needed to keep dental veneers in Chicago looking as good as the day they were placed by the dentist.
